Prevention is better than Cure!
Good oral hygiene means brushing twice a day for 2 minutes each time, and flossing correctly once a day. Making use of a Miswak has proven to prevent dental decay and plaque build up drastically.
Visit your dentist once in 6 months
A cleaning should be done every 6 months to prevent plaque accumulation and subsequent bone and tooth loss. It is also possible for us to pick up if there are any cavities or initial signs of dental decay – where we can clean and restore your tooth. However neglect in this regard often leads to deep canvities which require root canal therapy or extraction.
Always save the tooth!
We make every effort to save the tooth as much as possible, after all there is no perfect creation like that of our Creator.

Frequently Asked Questions
At what age should we bring our kids for their first visit?
Generally we would say 3 years of age, however with the high content of sugar in almost all food items, seeing them at the age of 2 would be ideal so that we can track the eruption sequence of the baby teeth, assess the composition of the tooth structure, and check for any decaying teeth
When will my child need to start braces if necessary?
This discipline is known as orthodontics. Interceptive orthodontics focuses on expanding the arch in order to create space for the permanent dentition. This procedure prevents the need to extract permanent teeth at a later stage to create space. Interceptive orthodontics can be initiated from the age of 7. Expanding the arch creates a wide beautiful arch form and smile.
Why should we fill baby teeth?
The deciduous dentition or primary dentition are the space maintainers for the permanent teeth. The front baby teeth exfoliate or fall out at 6 or 7 years of age, the baby molars at 9-11 years. Early loss of baby teeth results in poor arch and jaw development and crowding of the permanent teeth. This is why we always try to maintain baby teeth for as long as possible.
What is bonding?
Bonding is a white filling material or resin which we add either to the edges of the teeth or on the entire surface. We do not usually need to drill your tooth structure to apply it, however we do alter the enamel surface slightly to ensure the bonding of the restoration. We use this technique to fix the colour, shape, position or length of your front teeth.
What constitutes having a wide smile?
A wide smile means showing atleast 8 – 10 teeth when smiling and this is very desirable. The lips, soft tissues and the muscles also contribute to a wide smile. Ways we can achieve a wider smile would be by arch expansion by bringing your side teeth out, having wider buccal corridors by building up your back upper teeth, or botox for a higher muscle pull.
Why do I have sore, bleeding gums?
This is a sign of inflammation most likely due to gingivitis or gum disease. This happens when plaque gets stuck between the gum and tooth. You will require a scale and polish at your dentist to remove the hard plaque, followed by home care – correct brushing technique with the help of an electric tooth brush can alleviate the problem gradually, also cleaning between the teeth with floss or an interdental brush is vital. Make sure your toothpaste contains fluoride.
